Project Superintendent – Marine Construction
HCRC is seeking an experienced Project Superintendent to oversee marine construction projects for an industry-leading company. This position requires a hands-on leader who is skilled in managing construction crews, maintaining budgets, ensuring safety standards, and driving project efficiency. Primary Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy:
- Set performance goals and deadlines with crew leaders.
- Supervise site staff, providing constructive feedback and mentorship.
- Coach and mentor team members to build skills, transfer knowledge, and strengthen crew capacity.
Operational Efficiency & Process Management:
- Oversee crew progress to ensure all deadlines are met.
- Plan and schedule construction processes to optimize productivity.
- Monitor and maintain material stock levels; manage orders as needed.
- Ensure job sites remain clean, safe, and organized.
- Facilitate weekly planning and coordination meetings.
Financial Management & Risk Assessment:
- Monitor and manage project budgets to maintain financial control.
- Estimate and control costs to keep the project on-budget.
- Identify project risks, address issues, and communicate escalation points.
Compliance & On-Site Operations:
- Enforce safety and quality guidelines in adherence to OSHA requirements.
- Conduct on-site inspections to ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards.
- Address on-site emergencies swiftly and effectively.
- Review and approve crew members’ time reports.
- Submit daily project updates to the Project Manager or Project Engineer.
Monitoring & Quality Control:
- Review reports submitted by foremen and crew leaders daily.
- Conduct frequent site visits to confirm progress and proactively address issues.
Relationship Building:
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and project execution.
Qualifications & Skills Required:
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience in marine construction, with at least 3 years in a superintendent role.
- Strong knowledge of marine construction methods, materials, and safety procedures.
- Proven ability to lead teams effectively and communicate with clarity and authority.
- Proficiency with construction management software and tools.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Physical ability to work in demanding conditions, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training certification is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field is preferred but not required.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary: $80,000 to $130,000, based on experience.
