GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Senior Mental Health Therapist functions at the Pediatric Behavioral Health & Wellness (PBH&W): Brighter Days Urgent Care Center as the Coordinator of the Short-Term Assessment & Response Team (START) and provides clinical supervision to START and Walk-In service clinicians. As the coordinator of the START program, the Senior Mental Health Therapist collaborates with referral sources, leads START team meetings, and is engaged in program planning and development. The Senior Mental Health Therapist also provides direct clinical care as a START and Walk-In Service clinician. In the role of a START clinician, the team member provides short- term solution-focused treatment to patients and their families and is responsible for assessment, crisis intervention, treatment planning, and therapy in the up to 6-session model of care. In the role of a Walk-In service clinician, the team member provides an initial mental health evaluation and safety assessment, immediate evidence-informed crisis intervention, and follow-up recommendations and linkage to appropriate community resources and treatment (e.g., START). The Senior Mental Health Therapist is a member of the leadership team and supports other leadership functions such as coordinating walk-in service and supporting the direct admission process.
**RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Provide direct patient care to youth and their families in the START (Short- Term Assessment & Response Team) track of the PBH&W Brighter Days Urgent Care Center under general direction and with considerable latitude for independent judgement. More specifically, provides short-term solution- focused treatment to patients and their families and is responsible for assessment, crisis intervention, treatment planning, and therapy in the up to 6- session model of care. Mobilizes patient, family, and natural support networks when clinically indicated. Meets minimum target for clinical productivity.
+ Provide direct patient care to youth and their families in the Walk-In track of the PBH&W Brighter Days Urgent Care Center. More specifically, provides an initial mental health/safety assessment, and evidence-informed crisis intervention, as well as follow-up recommendations and linkage to appropriate community resources and treatment.
+ Provides supervision to staff clinicians and trainees. Shares responsibility for the quality of care being provided by the supervisee (e.g., shares knowledge of evidence-based assessment and interventions, community resources, models ethical behavior and standards, provides regular feedback on strengths and areas for growth, communicates with other members of the supervisory team). Supervisors provide oversight to ensure that supervisees meet service standards (e.g., clinical productivity and timely completion of high-quality documentation).
+ Coordinates START program including planning and program development. Collaborates with referral sources and other professionals both internal and external (ex. Community outpatient services, PCPs, Schools, Mobile Crisis Team, CPEP, Crisis Call Line, etc.). Provides support as a member of the leadership team in coordination of walk-ins and direct admission process.
+ Documents treatment in patients’ electronic medical record in compliance with Program, Department and Hospital regulations. This includes the development of family centered, comprehensive and individualized treatment plans for patients with clearly defined therapeutic goals with patients and families.
+ Coordinates appropriate referrals and linkage to mental health services as clinically indicated. Establishes and regularly maintains cooperative working relationships with referral sources and other professionals both internal and external throughout patient care activities (e.g., PCPs, community mental health agencies). Coordinates with professional and administrative staff of the Medical Center and University as well as support staff regarding patient scheduling, fees, and insurance issues.
+ Maintains professional CEU requirements by reading, attending seminars, workshops and conferences.
**QUALIFICATIONS:**
**Required:**
+ Master’s Degree from a program in a mental health field that is accredited by the Counsel for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP), the American Art Therapy Association, the Commission on Accreditation of Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE), or another acceptable accrediting agency as determined by the NY State Office of Professions to be the substantial equivalent of such a registered or accredited program.
+ Experience providing clinical services to children with behavioral health disorders and their families.Knowledge, skills and abilities to provide mental health services to children and families
+ NYS licensure as a mental health practitioner (e.g., Mental Health Counselor, Creative Arts Therapist)
**Preferred:**
+ Supervisory experience.

**Pay Range**
Pay Range: $64,480 - $83,824 Annually
_The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._
