About the Internship
The mission of the Treasury Department is to carry out essential financial management functions which enable the Port Authority to fulfill its business objectives. Specifically, Treasury contributes to the long-term financial stability of the Agency by developing and protecting fixed and liquid assets, maintaining access to capital markets at a reasonable cost, managing liquid assets to achieve returns consistent with agreed upon risks, overseeing investing and financing programs consistent with the interests of all stakeholders, and meeting financial obligations with the highest level of financial integrity.
The intern will work closely with the Portfolio/Cash Management unit of the Treasury Department assisting with the management of the daily cash flow and investment operations and will be introduced to basic credit analysis skills, assist with the daily settlement of trades, and monitor cash balances to ensure funds are invested appropriately. The position will provide the opportunity to be introduced to the bigger picture in how cash and investment management fit together in the agency.
Responsibilities
+ Assist in building and updating credit rating analysis of Repurchase Agreement Counterparties, maintaining databases, including researching liquidity ratios and participating on conference calls with brokers
+ Support our traders in daily clearance and settlement of securities trades, ensuring accuracy and resolving settlement issues with brokers
+ Perform daily and monthly reconciliations with our custody bank to ensure all transactions are captured correctly
+ Update cashflow databases to track daily money flows
Minimum Qualifications
+ Enrollment at a college/university through Summer 2025 and into the Fall 2025 semester
+ Major in Finance, Economics, or Accounting
+ Rising sophomore, junior, or senior
+ Completion of entry-level classes in Accounting and Finance
Desired Qualifications
+ Strong interest in the Markets
+ Familiarity with how to calculate the Time Value of Money
+ Proficiencyin Excel and the other Microsoft Office products
+ Knowledge of the Bloomberg Software
Internship Details
+ The start date will be Thursday, May 29, 2025
+ The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 22, 2025
+ This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)
+ The format is expected to be hybrid
