Project Description:
Noblis is seeking a qualified technical intern for Summer 2025 with course work and laboratory experience in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or similar domain, and basic PERL, Python, R, or SQL programming. The candidate will work with a small team of Noblis scientists to advance infectious disease science, synthetic biology research, and molecular detection methods at the intersection of national security and public health. This role is to support several cutting edge Noblis Sponsored Research (NSR) projects. The ideal candidate is motivated, dependable, detail-oriented, has a positive attitude and a passion for applied research.
The intern will:
- Work on-site in a laboratory setting for at least 4 days a week.
- Perform lab-based experiments.
- Meet at least weekly with the team to outline, monitor and close a summer project.
- Present results to Noblis scientists for discussion and analysis.
- Prepare a final report and oral presentation.
- Stay abreast of the scientific literature on project-related topics.
- Work autonomously and in a team environment with a positive collegial attitude.

- A GPA of 3.3 or higher
- U.S. Citizenship
- Clearances are not required
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, bioinformatics, or similar domain
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- A high degree of ethical and scientific standards

- Coding and bioinformatics experience is a plus
- Familiarity with BSL-2 safety procedures is a plus

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package.
