Overview:
The SUE Project Manager will be responsible for management and oversight of staff and projects within the geographic region identified by the Geographic Discipline Leader and Regional Manager/Director. The SUE PM will supervise Assistant Project Management Staff and Field Personnel and will be responsible to administer to the needs of the staff including, project scheduling, equipment issues, supplies, proper time reporting and proper record keeping.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
Act as a mentor to junior staff
Work to ensure departmental coordination on projects
Coordinate with GDL to formulate & maintain department revenue budget/goal
Work with APM and Field Supervisor to develop and implement project schedules
Weekly review assigned staff field efforts and reports to ensure optimum utilization and recommend / manage issues related to not meeting billing goals/billable hours.
Supervise staff and provide positive direction and constructive criticism
Train/instruct staff in proper job performance, set positive examples in behavior and work ethic
Prepare Proposals, Expression of Interest, and Work Authorizations for assigned projects in concert with APM, GDL, RDL
Maintain and utilize working knowledge of accepted discipline practice, scientific principles, regulatory programs, and field standards and practices in the execution of assigned work activities
Coordinate with departmental admin staff to organize and maintain proper filing of project and general information
Conformance to company standards
Prepare for and attend client/agency meetings with or without GDL/RDL to present information pertinent to the project
Strong oral and written client communication both internal and external
Works with Billing Managers to develop project invoices with accounting support
Identify opportunities to Cross Sell all our services
Ability to manage multiple projects at one time

Develop and apply knowledge and experience with preparing proposals, developing budgets, tracking budgets and the associated financial management skills necessary to run a team and
monitor the performance of assigned projects.Provide clients with proper back-up data (designating reports, test hole reports, field sketches, CAD files, etc.)
Coordinate overall department and personnel schedule, maintain frequently to ensure ability to respond to customer needs and potential new projects
While maintaining regional focus, coordinate with Discipline Leader, Regional Director and other GDLs to assist with project efforts outside of the region when requested
Coordinate with local municipalities to obtain proper certs and permits for work in their jurisdictions
Review project requirements and determine ability to perform the required work and ability to dispatch personnel within the project schedule
Review contract documents and address concerns with GDL
Strive towards maintaining working backlog by searching for project leads, maintaining excellent client relations with existing customers and networking with potential new clients to develop opportunities
Work with other divisions to identify potential new project opportunities and multi-lining existing clients. Maintain good working relationships with department heads and in-house staff
Work with marketing and admin staff to develop & deploy marketing and advertising opportunities
Seek out opportunities for involvement with local industry groups, especially those that focus on engineering, construction, excavation, and utilities
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Provide performance goals for assigned staff and provide feedback to review job performance
Supervise staff and provide positive direction, constructive criticism and recommend disciplinary actions when necessary
Review plans, specifications, cost estimates, permits, and other contract documents
Manage project schedules, budgets, and QC/QA plans
Participate in group conference calls, coordination efforts and reporting
Manage staff and current projects to ensure effective and positive outcomes
Set positive examples in behavior and work ethic
Identify learning and training opportunities to improve staff effectiveness and foster pride in work product
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree Preferred, Strong SUE background
5+ years of related experience at an Assistant PM or PM level
NYSDOT 18.2.1, 18.3.1, 18.6.1
Valid drivers license preferred, OSHA 10 & 30 Hour
Strong background in SUE (Performing/Managing ASCE compliant SUE)
Extensive knowledge of ASCE 38, familiar with related standards; CGA, PHMSA, APWA
Ability to interpret plans, specifications and requirements for preparing SUE proposals and deliverables.
Interpersonal skills, ability to effectively work well with and communicate with others
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to deliver technical presentations, educational/marketing discussions with new or prospective clients
Strong organizational skills with a keen ability to prioritize and multi-task
Proficient in MS Office, BlueBeam, Field Aware and/or other related software
Excel in the ability to learn, apply and teach others technical skills and knowledge
Keen eye for detail
