We are looking for substitutes for all schools in the Belle Fourche School District - both teacher and paraprofessional substitutes.
Paid by Half Day & Full Day for both Certified and Non Certified Substitutes
Substituting allows you the opportunity to choose when you are available to work by ability to view available jobs within our substitute system.
General Statement of Duties:
The fundamental reason this classification exists is to enable each learner to pursue his/her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of his/her regular Teacher or Paraprofessional. Incumbents may teach one or more subjects to learners.
* Note the level of pay will dependent upon the certification of the incumbent.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1.Report to the school secretary upon arrival at the school building. Review with the Principal, department head, or team leader all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day. Consult with principal, department head and/or team leader before initiating any teaching or other procedures mot specified in the Substitute Teaching Guide.
2.Strive to implement the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
3.Instruct students the lessons outlined and described in the Substitute Teacher's Guide as prepared by the absent teacher.
4.Maintain as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which the Substitute is assigned.
5.Assign lessons and correct homework.
6.Maintain accurate assessment records, goals, and progress reports on each student. Keep attendance records.
7.Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. Maintain discipline in classroom. Ensure a safe environment for students and staff.
8.Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
9.Follow all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
10.Compose, type, and maintain routine correspondence, reports, and various other materials and projects. Submit reports and documents as deemed necessary.
11.Operate modern office equipment, to include computers and educational equipment.
12.Perform other related duties and functions as assigned.
13.Attend meetings, training, and seminars as deemed appropriate and necessary.
14.Work directly with highly sensitive personnel and student information. Maintain confidentiality of work related information.
15.Perform all duties in compliance with safety standards established by the District.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to work well with subordinates, public entities, educational professionals, etc.
Work under pressure to meet tight time schedules and deadlines, and handle significant problems and tasks, which come up simultaneously or unexpectedly.
