Substation Control Design Engineer
Birmingham, AL
System One is currently seeking a Substation Control Design Engineer on a 3 year contract position located in Birmingham, AL.
Substation Control Design Engineer Responsibilities:
Responsible for Company’s Transmission and Distribution Substations design.
Provide engineering drawings, specifications, and material requirements for substation projects emphasizing safety, quality, scheduling, and costs.
Create a safe work environment by putting safety first.
Understand the process used for substation control planning, design, operation, construction, and maintenance.
Understand the functions and activities of various internal departments involved in substation design, construction, and maintenance.
Understand substation design practices and work processes, using all software applications used in substation design.
Understand NESC and Company design standards.
Support design standard and criteria development for the system.
Support construction and maintenance teams during day-to-day operations and during emergency restoration of failed equipment,.
Estimating material for transmission projects.
Transmitting construction packages and supporting specifications.
Substation Control Design Engineer Requirements:
0-5 years of related experience
An accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical engineering preferred) or professional engineer license.
This position requires approximately 25% travel.
Introductory engineering knowledge.
Basic problem-solving skills.
Limited discretion making independent decisions based on procedure and review with supervisor.
Basic understanding of Control Design tools and applications (AutoCAD Electrical, TEAMS, Stomps, SCST Vault, Maximo).
Strong work ethic.
Ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors.
Duration: 3 years
Location: Birmingham, AL
Pay Rate: $35/hr
