About the Job
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts group and individual substance abuse (SA) activities for patients and develops related programs.
- Assesses and evaluates patients for co-occurring disorders and determines the level of care required.
- Ensures timely completion of all necessary records and reports.
- Maintains professional development through in-service education and other resources, while complying with Human Resources requirements.
- Shows cultural sensitivity, treating each patient as an individual, and considering their cultural background when providing care and treatment.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a social services related field.
- Or Certified in the substance abuse field.
- Or Experience in the substance abuse field.
Experience:
- Ability to work with computers.
- Ability to work with software used by the department.
- Relevant experience in provision of addiction counseling services.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Licensed in an addiction counseling specialty (Certified Addiction Counselor, Registered Addiction Counselor, Certified Addiction Professional (CAP)) certification is strongly preferred.
- Certified as a Counselor in Training under supervision or licensed in social work, counseling or psychology.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
