Substance Abuse Counselor (MSW or CASAC) - Tandym Group

A human services organization in New York City is currently seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor to join their team.

• Start Date: ASAP
• Assignment Length: Contract to Hire
• Schedule: Monday to Friday
• Hours: 7am to 3pm or 8am to 4pm
• Setting: Methadone clinic onsite
• Patient Population: Adults with co-morbidities & substance use disorders
• Caseload: 30 cases, no field work

Responsibilities:

• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions with patients to address substance use issues and related concerns
• Develop and implement personalized treatment plans in collaboration with patients, taking into account their unique needs and goals
• Facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic groups to address various aspects of addiction and recovery
• Assist patients in identifying and developing coping strategies to manage triggers and cravings
• Provide crisis intervention and support to patients in times of immediate need
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, progress notes, and treatment documentation

• MSW (clinical supervision will be provided by an LCSW) or CASAC
• Solid assessment and documentation skills
• Patient oriented
• Great interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strong attention to detail
• Highly organized

• Bilingual (English and Spanish)
• Experience working with Underserved and Substance Use populations
