University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center is part of the National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Case Comprehensive Cancer Center at Case Western Reserve University, one of 50 Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the country.
The Nursing Assistant II (NA II) is an entry-level position specifically designed for current nursing students aiming to enrich their preparation for a nursing career. Under the guidance of an experienced nurse, you will acquire valuable hands-on experience by providing safe, efficient, age-specific care to patients and families in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and/or sustain optimal health status. The role is designed to build upon the experience gained in the classroom and during clinical rotations.
Responsibilities include:
- Direct patient care delivery (includes ADLs, hygiene measures, select treatments, patient/family education, discharge preparation)
- Communication and documentation of interventions and observations
- Participation in quality improvement process
- Involved in learning and self-improvement
- Initiates and maintains a positive relationship with patients/customers and coworkers
Current NA II opportunities exist across UH Seidman Cancer Center including:
Ambulatory Outpatient Float Pool
- Outpatient clinics oversee the management of Oncology patients as they navigate their cancer journey by supporting patients and providers during provider driven clinical visits.
Stem Cell Transplant & Malignant Hematology (SCC 3)
Infusion
- This unit oversees the management and administration of patients receiving intravenous infusions of chemotherapy/immunotherapy and other therapeutic regimes to treat and support patients with both Oncologic and Non-Oncologic conditions.
Surgical Oncology/MICU Stepdown (SCC 6)
Qualifications
Experience/Knowledge:
- Thorough knowledge of nursing process and practice. Successful completion of a Nursing Fundamentals course required.
Special Skills, Equipment:
- Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed medical therapies (i.e. stethoscope, thermometers, glucometers, and electronic monitoring devices). Excellent communication skills.
Education:
- Current enrollment in an accredited A.D.N. nursing program required. Current enrollment in a BSN nursing program preferred.
