SUMMARY:
The Coordinator of Student Engagement will be responsible for advising the Campus Activities Board (CAB), which serves as the main student programming board for the University. The Coordinator will provide guidance, supervision of officers and events, and development for members. The Coordinator may also serve on or chair various Special Events Committees within the TAMUC Campus. The Coordinator will assist with furthering the mission of Texas A&M University-Commerce.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Serves as advisor for the Campus Activities Board (CAB). Supervising CAB Officers, including coordinating the officer selection process, meeting weekly with officers, and reviewing officer hours to ensure officer requirements for paid positions.
+ Provides formal and informal training to officers and members on topics such as communication, delegation, conflict resolution, event planning, marketing, etc.
+ Responsible for maintaining fiscal responsibility for the CAB budget in collaboration with student leaders.
+ Assists CAB members to plan, Implement, and evaluate programs effectively. Provide on-site support for CAB programs. Attends general and executive board meetings.
+ Collaborates with the CAB officers to set the direction, vision, and goals for CAB each year, review goals throughout the semester.
+ Implements a risk management plan for each event and follows all University-related guidelines.
+ Negotiates contracts with local and national agencies. Review all contracts to ensure University guidelines are followed.
+ Attends and takes students to the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) conference(s) or other applicable conferences. Coordinate travel for conference delegation.
+ Serve on and/or chair various Special Events Committees
+ Establishes professional relationships with other departments/organizations, on and off campus. Ensure that collaborative events involve meetings and communication between all sponsoring parties with excellent customer service to constituents-students, faculty/staff, and off campus entities.
+ Actively participate in division and department initiatives, programs, and events. Develops and implements new initiatives as appropriate.
+ Participates in university-wide committees and professional development opportunities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
+ Education: Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Experience/ Knowledge/ Skills: Two (2) years of related experience in event planning, student advising, public relations, marketing, and experience with developing and managing budgets. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to present information clearly and concisely. Work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree in applicable field. Three (3) years of related experience in event planning, student advising, public relations, marketing, and experience with developing and managing budgets. Experience working with the National Associate of Campus Activities (NACA).
SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:
Campus Activities Board (CAB) Executive Board Members, student workers and graduate assistants.
