Who We Are:
Southwest Research Institute is seeking highly driven and skilled student engineers for its Applied Power Division to develop prototype Unmanned Aerial Systems to solve national security challenges.
Objectives of this Role:
- Assist in design, development, and optimize unmanned aerial systems to enhance operational efficiency and innovation.
- Participate in UAS exercises and testing to gather critical field data and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Utilize SolidWorks and other CAD technologies to create and improve components essential for unmanned systems.
- Apply networking and radio frequency knowledge to improve system performance and reliability.
- Contribute to the advancement of uncrewed aerial technology through support of UAS operations.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Assist in design and optimize unmanned aerial system components using SolidWorks and other CAD technologies on a daily basis.
- Participate in UAS field tests and exercises to collect data, troubleshoot issues, and enhance system performance.
- Conduct regular maintenance and updates on networking and radio frequency systems to ensure optimal functionality.
- Collaborate with team members to develop and implement innovative solutions for unmanned system challenges.
- Prepare and present technical reports and findings to senior management.
Requirements:
- Must be pursuing a Bachelors degree Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering degree.
- 0 years: Proficient in UAS technology with hands-on experience in both design and field operations.
- SolidWorks experience in parts and assembly modeling.
- Knowledgeable in networking and radio frequencies, with practical applications in UAS systems.
- Experience with MATLAB and basic knowledge of coding languages including Linux, Unix, and Python.
- A valid/clear driver's license is required.
