Who We Are:
Join the Rotating Machinery Dynamics section as an Intern to work on a range of applied research projects. Work under direction of a Sr. Engineer to assist in assembling test rigs, operating advanced energy machinery, and working on solutions to decarbonize our world.
Objectives of this Role:
- Work under direction of a senior engineer to assist in assembling research test rigs, operating tests, and recording measurements.
- Obtain meaningful applied research experience in the areas of turbomachinery aerodynamics, vibration, machine design, machine construction, and operation.
- Summer 2025 Student Position.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Perform hands-on work in a laboratory environment as well as performing computer-related tasks that include analysis and reporting.
- Manage and prioritize assigned tasks among multiple projects.
- When needed, independently solve problems that do not have a clear solution path and with little direction.
- Utilize commercial engineering software for design or analysis, this may include computational fluid dynamics (CFD) or finite element analysis (FEA).
- Conduct experimental testing using LabView for data acquisition and interpret results to make conclusions about the work.
- Assist with various promotional and project work as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be pursuing a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related degree field.
- 0 years: MatLab, Python, ANSYS, statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, Labview.
- A valid/clear driver's license is required.
