OVERVIEW
Supports teaching staff in a licensed childcare and preschool and/or afterschool age facility with implementing classroom and recreational activities for children 3 through 12 years of age. Position may from time to time be stressful and require a high demand of performance. May perform other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists with setting up classroom activities and prepares needed supplies and materials. Provides support for children in their classroom activities ensuring they have attention and resources
- Assists with mealtime, nap time and play time (indoor and outdoor)
- Follows the state licensing, Quality First and childcare food program standards
- Maintains a clean and safe environment and monitors children's behavior
- May assist with the after school and summer program activities
- Assists in keeping accurate records for programs
Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Duties
- Report the number of children scheduled to eat lunch to the office by 9:00am, as assigned.
- Clean tables before and after meals and sweep floors of the meal serving areas
- Serve required portions of food for meals
- Supervise proper handwashing by children
- Record meals served at point of service
- Monitor participants during meals
- Assist with family-style eating
- Provide office with meal count records
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Suitable work experience may be considered as transferable skills in order to meet minimum requirements of the position and will be considered by the Executive Director of Human Resources.
- High School Diploma/GED
- A student-aide provides the licensee with documentation of participation in:
- An educational, curriculum-based course in child development, parenting, or guidance counseling; or
- A vocational education or occupational development program.
- A student-aide provides the licensee with documentation of participation in:
REGULATORY
- CPR training
- TB screening (employer paid)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Working toward a Child Development Associates (CDA) certificate or Associate in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Additional experience working with school-age children in the classroom and/or in a recreation facility
- Certificate or Associate's Degree in Early Child Education or related area
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, verbal and written
