Job Details
Job Summary: this employee would create detailed, accurate, and comprehensive drawings for the fabrication and installation of structural steel and miscellaneous metal components, this would include steel beams, columns, staircases, handrails, brackets, and other custom metalwork.
Key Responsibilities:
Preparation of Detailed Drawings:
o Create detailed shop drawings, erection plans, and connection details for structural steel and miscellaneous metals, such as staircases, handrails, and other architectural metalwork.
o Use Computer-Aided Design (CAD, SDS2) software to produce clear, precise, and accurate drawings based on architectural and structural designs.
o Ensure that all drawings are compliant with project specifications, building codes, and safety standards.
Fabrication and Installation Details:
o Provide accurate measurements, material specifications, and connection details required for the fabrication and installation of steel and metal components.
o Review and verify shop drawings to ensure that all materials and components conform to project specifications and design requirements.
Review of Structural and Miscellaneous Metal Designs:
o Review structural plans, shop drawings, and material takeoffs to ensure all details are consistent, accurate, and feasible.
o Identify any potential design or construction conflicts and propose solutions.
Quality Control and Compliance:
o Ensure all detailing work meets quality standards and adheres to industry standards and regulations.
o Maintain detailed records of all drawings, specifications, and communication with project teams.
Coordination of Materials and Schedules:
o Help coordinate the procurement of materials based on project requirements and timelines.
o Track project schedules and work with fabrication teams to ensure deadlines are met.
Problem Solving:
o Address any issues or challenges that arise during the fabrication and installation phases, providing solutions and adjusting drawings when necessary.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education:
o High school diploma or equivalent (required); Associate’s degree in Drafting, or a related field is preferred.
o Certification in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Tekla, or Revit) is often preferred.
Experience:
o 3-5 years of experience in structural steel detailing or a related field.
o Experience working with various types of steel and metal materials, welding processes, and fabrication techniques.
Technical Skills:
o Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Tekla, etc.).
o Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and building codes.
o Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
Additional Skills:
o Attention to detail and accuracy.
o Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
o Excellent communication skills for collaboration with clients, engineers, and contractors.
o Time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
