Qualifications for Structural Steel Estimator:
• 5+ years of experience in the structural steel industry with Tekla EPM software
• Experienced in structural steel fabrication and erection
• Knowledge of current structural steel codes and standards
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
• Ability to calculate costs and prepare estimates
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
Responsibilities for Structural Steel Estimator:
• Prepare and review estimates for accuracy and completeness
• Coordinate and communicate with team members
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients
• Manage and monitor project budgets and schedules
• Monitor and review changes in project scope
• Ensure all materials, labor and equipment costs are accurately included in estimates
• Prepare accurate material take offs
• Assist in developing and implementing cost-effective strategies
Estimator Job Functions
• Interpret and analyze blueprints, drawings and specifications
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients, vendors and subcontractors
• Identify and resolve discrepancies between estimates and actual cost
• Monitor progress of projects and recommend changes to ensure timelines and budgets are met
• Produce estimates, bids, and proposals for projects
• Analyze materials, labor and equipment costs for accuracy and completeness
Structural Steel Estimator Skills:
• Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication, and erection process
• Proficient in Tekla EPM software and relevant software
• Knowledge of current structural steel codes and standards
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Compensation/Benefits for Structural Steel Estimator:
• $75,000-$95,000 base salary (DOE)
