THE ROLE OF THE STRUCTURAL PROJECT ENGINEER: CGE is seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer with a valid State of Oklahoma Professional Engineer’s license. The ideal candidate will have exceptional structural project design skills to oversee public projects and ensure that budget, timeline, and quality goals are met. We are looking for a team-oriented leader who fosters a positive work atmosphere and has a history of completing projects on time and on budget.
This position reports directly to a Team Lead and will:
• Direct multi-disciplinary teams.
• Possess key design experience with municipal or state government projects.
• Complete specialized and highly technical projects related to private and public improvements.
• Market and secure new work.
• Conceptualize/create presentations to secure work.
• Conduct engineering calculations and detailed design for structural projects.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop detailed designs for structures like buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure projects.
• Perform structural analysis to ensure that designs meet safety and performance standards.
• Choose appropriate construction materials such as concrete, steel, timber, and composites.
• Ensure designs comply with building codes and regulations.
• Coordinate with architects, construction managers, and other professionals to integrate structural design with overall project goals.
• Manage timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project completion.
• Conduct site inspections to assess the conditions of structures.
• Evaluate existing structures for safety, functionality, and compliance, recommending repairs or reinforcements if necessary.
• Identify potential structural risks and implement design solutions to mitigate them.
• Provide technical guidance during the construction phase.
• Inspect construction work for adherence to design and safety standards.
• Prepare detailed reports, specifications, and documentation for design approval and construction.
• Maintain records of calculations, design changes, and project progress.
• Engage in continuous learning and research to stay abreast of new technologies and methods in structural engineering.
• Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
• Design structural elements using various software programs.
• Review drawings and provide feedback to colleagues.
• Perform field visits and write reports detailing project status and progress.
• Experience with ODOT and OTA preferred.
Job Requirements:
• Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Oklahoma (and other states as needed).
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in structural engineering.
• Proven record of providing superior client service.
• Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strength in identifying, developing, and interacting with clients.
• Excellent technical skills.
• Ability to read and interpret contract documents and specifications.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong time management skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage project team members effectively.
• Ability to work on multiple projects with deadlines.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong computer skills.
