We have an exciting opportunity for a Structural Engineer - Spacecraft Window Design and Analysis to join our JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.
If selected you will:
- Apply a structural engineering background to resolve technical issues regarding spacecraft window design and analysis
- Have Knowledge of Stress Analysis methods and adequacy
- Review stress analyses and identify weaknesses
- Review structural modeling correlation to test data
- Review and apply the Structural Requirements/Verifications process
- Understand and learn the engineering methodologies associated with brittle materials
- Understand and learn the engineering methodologies associated with non-linear materials
- Forming collaborative relationships with contractor/partner and NASA hardware leads
- Be proactive and attentive to hardware development, design, test and verification processes at the contractor/partner
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications:

- Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering with experience in the field or in a related area.
- Have good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Creative thinker, investigator, problem solver
Preferred Qualifications:
- Requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with 0- 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Familiar with NASA Program functional philosophies (especially the new commercial contracts)
- Background or experience in structural testing methods (proper instrumentation of hardware, etc)
- Previous experience in Spacecraft Window Design, Analysis, Test, and Verification
