Selectek has an exciting opportunity for a Structural Engineer who is looking for a new challenge. Engineers with a background working with structural steel, concrete, curtain wall, or metal framing would have a good base of knowledge to take on this role.
The daily task of a Structural Engineer for this role would include reviewing designs and completing calculations for load analysis per job requirement, work on testing of new designs to reduce cost, working with Project Managers, GCs, and Architects for resolutions on complex issues.
Daily task involved:
The Engineer will design their aluminum canopy system. The focus of the role will be to design the connections for these canopies. They will be required to design the loads and review fabrication drawings. Part of the role will be to resolve issues that come up from their field teams once instillation begins and help the fabrication detailers make adjustments when necessary to help make their products fit their clients needs. Additional duties will include performing wind loads and designing footings.
Sponsorship: No, must be us citizen or green card holder
DL Rate Range: $38/hour - $48/hour ($79,000 - $100,000 annual salary)
Term of assignment: 6 months contract to hire or direct hire is possible
Pay Method When Direct: Salary, no OT Pay
Location of job: Lithia Springs, GA 30122
Hours & Shift: 8-hour day, start between 7AM 8AM
Work From Home: No, they like their team to be in the office
Working Remote: No
Overtime Expected: none likely on contract to hire time frame, but once taken direct, those opportunities will come and they get time and a half for OT
Travel: Minimal, occasional visits to the field would be possible
Work Attire: Jeans and Golf/polo shirt for men. No T-shirts

- Using STAAD and RISA to complete calculations
- Creating calculation packages for submittal
- Evaluating reviewing design calculations for stress and deflection analysis per specifications
- Reviewing and mentoring EITs on staff
- Work with GC's Architects and PMs to resolve complex job issues
- Reviewing shop drawings and comparing to contract drawings for correct details
- Work with our in-house shop to solve design issues
- Create testing procedures and see testing completed on new designs
- BS or MS in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structures.
- 4+ years of work experience with structural steel, concrete, curtain wall, or metal framing.
- Experience with STAAD & RISA or similar software.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- PE
- Knowledge of current ASCE 7, AISC Steel Manual, Aluminum Design Manual, International Building Code (IBC) is beneficial
- AutoCAD experience
- Experience with Canopy systems
