Overview:Support assigned engineers, designers or other technical positions by providing technical support and translating technical notes, sketches, electronic data and/or drawings into documentable technical solutions.
Responsibilities:Leadership and Direction
- Perform work under moderate supervision. Receive direction on moderately complex assignments, tasks, and execution. Work is frequently reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound techniques and principles. Review work produced by junior staff for quality assurance.
At the Operational and Company Level
- Work closely with more senior staff members to learn and assist in design work.
Do the Work
- Draft plans/mark-ups for the purpose of creating construction documents or structural design plans.
- Review all work for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting for review.
- Revise structural design plans according to client, manager, or reviewer comments.
- As required by senior staff, incumbents may visit projects sites and assist to collect data for clients and vendors.
- May work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining all CAD or CAD related files for clients, town, or county intake.
- Delegate responsibilities for submitting plans on time.
- Ability to learn and adhere to office CAD standards and practices.
- Obtain work assignments of specific structural design elements to CAD drafting duties from project manager within allocated budgets.
- Perform non-routine and more complex assignments from verbal instructions under minimal supervision.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to ask for additional direction and assistance when needed.

- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent commensurate experience required.
- Associate's degree or equivalent in drafting or an engineering design related technology or related field preferred.
- Three or more (3+) years of experience using CAD standards, preferably in building, transport, and/or marine infrastructure within the AEC industry.
- Equivalent of computer certificate for CAD Class Training.
- Must have experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar design software.
- Experience with computer applications and software such as, Microsoft office, etc.
- Primarily indoor professional office environment, which can consist of possible bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
- Mobility around an office environment, occasional squat or kneel.
- Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- Ability to travel to / from project sites.
- On occasion, incumbent may accompany more senior staff to project sites which may require being in an outdoor work environment that could include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.
- Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.
- Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.
- Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
