Job Description:
The Strategic Communications Lead will engage in developing and promoting messages for an audience for release to various communication platforms.
This is a remote role working in the US in East Coast hours. Candidates need to be local to the DC, Maryland, Virginia (DMV) area.
Primary Responsibilites:
- Coordinating timelines and requirements across internal and external teams.
- Generating content appropriate for mass outreach.
- Engaging regularly and in person with government clients to:
- Articulate outreach and engagement goals and objectives
- Identify and manage outreach and engagement initiatives
- Document requirements and coordinate the development of levels of efforts for new communication strategies
- Researching, developing and writing all required components of assigned communication plans and campaigns that maximize available outreach capabilities and deliver mission-focused messages to diverse audiences.
- Ensuring developed products meet requirements for audience and tone in accordance with platform and that key messages are aligned with identified communication priorities.
- Developing content focus and tone in all assigned tasks that demonstrates an understanding of writing to a variety of audiences and outlets and complies with Associated Press Stylebook and established client-specific style guides.
- Tracking and reporting metrics on material's performance.
- Make recommendations to the Contract Manager for new and updated content to support evolving needs. This might include identifying content gaps or ways to expand or improve collateral materials that would be of value to the client and/or end user.
- Providing oversight on social media monthly calendars including all social media tactics ensuring they are in alignment with the overarching DSPO Strategic Plan and resonate with the intended audience.
- Work cooperatively with graphic designers, editors and other key staff on products and services.
- Express vital and critical information to the appropriate audience.
- Manage time to meet task milestones and deadlines.
- Generate options and different approaches for problem-solving.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team toward the creation of products that meet client needs and expectations.
- Occasional travel for onsite event support.
- Perform other duties as requested.

- Project Management: Plan, direct or coordinate the operations of the project team. Formulate team strategies, manage daily strategic communication operations.
- Customer Management: Plan, direct or coordinate the distribution of deliverables or services to the customer. Coordinate contract requirements with the project team, determine the preferences of customers and monitor the progress of the collaboration.
- Quality Assurance Regulation: Support quality assurance programs. Support quality control policies and procedures through the adherence to quality standards.
Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be able to obtain a favorable background check.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications or related field.
- Work Experience: Three or more years experience in communications.
- Microsoft Office familiarity.
- Media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods.
- Structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.
- Principles and methods for showing, promoting and providing products or services.
- Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
- Business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and coordination of people and resources
- Administrative and clerical procedures in accordance with the company's best practices.
