Grocery/Store Manager

Position Summary: This position directs and manages all phases of store operation in a manner designed to obtain maximum sales and gross profits through effective utilization of personnel and resources available.

This job requires a background in retail grocery management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Increase sales and profits through utilization of methods as outlined in profit plan.
2. Plan, organize, direct, and control store activities with assistance of department managers.
3. Assures that all store personnel are courteous to customers and that requests/complaints are handled promptly and courteously.
4. Ultimate responsibility for all cash accountability and balancing procedures.
5. Responsible for maximum utilization of store personnel through effective scheduling, counseling, and evaluating programs, training programs, motivation, and supervision.
6. Responsible for efficient and effective delegation of duties to achieve maximum performance and follow-up to assure proper performance.
7. Acts as company representative both within the store and the community.
8. Responsible for staying within the store operating budget (payroll, inventory, etc.).
9. Maintains a housekeeping program which ensures an orderly, clean store that is pleasing to the customer’s eye.
10. Responsible for maintenance of prompt and accurate check-out service through proper supervision of front-end personnel and cashier accuracy.
11. Maintains efficient and knowledgeable method of operation through regular department manager meetings.
12. Maintains building and equipment in maximum operational condition.
13. Inform department managers of pricing discounts, price margins and optimal sale points.
14. Responsible for optimum freshness of merchandise and merchandising to achieve maximum sales and profits.
15. Implements and maintains effective fire, safety, and security standards within the store.
16. Responsible for total payroll, overtime, dollars spent, and must communicate with all employees on a timely basis.
17. Unload grocery truck and stock shelves.
18. Participate in local and regional civic affairs that are good for the community.
19. Schedule vacations, holidays, time-off, etc.
20. Check competitors Ads.
21. Promote trust and respect among associates.
22. Display a positive attitude.
23. Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
24. Report all safety risks or issues and illegal activity including robbery, theft, or fraud.
