Savard is hiring Stevedore Laborers for work in/near Baytown, TX for Job #17941

Stevedore Laborer will assist operations in a fast paced, 24/7 port terminal operations environment to load and unload cargo from vessels.

Job Scope/Duties:
Installing the gangway to receive incoming ships.
Ensuring that the oil spill containment boom is in good working order.
Securing ships by tying them to the moorings.
Working at height
Working in ships holds and on deck
Loading and unloading cargo using suitable material-handling equipment, such as forklift, hand trucks or pallet jacks.
Inspecting the unloaded cargo for any damages or irregularities.
Tallying the unloaded cargo and inputting information into spreadsheets as required by management.
Communicating with other Dock Workers using hand held radios to ensure the safe loading and unloading of cargo.
Ensuring that the dock areas are clean and free of debris in order to prevent accidents and injuries.

Requirements:
Must have 1-year experience as stevedore or dock laborer
Able to work outside in variable weather conditions including high-temperature summer months.
Must pass a drug screen.
Must have the ability to function effectively in a fast paced, team oriented work environment
Must have the ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong initiative
Must be able to work (flexible hours) extended hours including nights, overtime, weekends, holidays, often with little or no prior notification and until operations are complete
Must be flexible to work 12 hour shifts as needed
Valid ID is required
TWIC or TWIC receipt preferred but not required

Physical Requirements
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, bend forward, squat, twist, pinch and reach overhead
The employee is occasionally required to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds
Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) without restriction
Must be able to work at heights
Must be able to work on/near bodies of water

Shifts/Hours:
Monday-Friday, Some Weekends
7AM-5PM or 7AM-7PM with a 30 minutes paid lunch
Rotating shifts, will work 5 days a week
Overtime when available

Pay: $15 with potential pay increase after a 90 day period
Up to $600 w 40 hours/week
