POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for keeping dental instruments clean, sanitized, organized and ready for use.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Minimum High School graduate or equivalent
- Experience in a healthcare setting required
- Dental Assistant preferred
Experience:
- Two years prior experience
Skills and Abilities
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills with the ability to communicate clearly and project a pleasant and professional demeanor.
- Proficient computer skills including the use of word processing, e-mail and electronic medical/dental records software.
- Knowledge of the health care field and dental processes and procedures.
- Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
- Ability to set priorities, recognize problems, inform appropriate person of problem and assist in problem resolution.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions
- Maintains familiarity with and follows OSHA standards.
- Ensures instruments are sterilized as soon as feasible when received into central sterilization.
- Maintains cleanliness and order of all areas of sterilization.
- Keeps accurate logs of spore testing.
- Uses the system to monitor and track instruments through sterilization.
- Keeps the Lead Sterilization Tech apprised of any issues or concerns with equipment, supplies or procedures related to sterilization.
- Meets the needs and special requests of the providers with regard to instruments and hand pieces.
- Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a team to facilitate the Dental Center's ability to meet goals and objectives.
- Attains goals and objectives within specified time frames.
- Follows the Exposure Control Plans/Blood borne and Airborne Pathogens.
- Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional responsible and courteous environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
