About the Job
Primary Functions: Facilitates quality instruction of Sterile Processing Certification students within the Sterile Processing Certification course as part of the Workforce Development Team.
Minimum Qualifications: A certificate as a Sterile Processor or a Surgical Technologist with 3 years of evidence of experience working as a Sterile Processing Technician or Surgical Technologist. Prior teaching/coaching and/or mentoring experience preferred; understanding of the needs of students, willingness to promote college and community relations; and a strong commitment to Sterile Processing (domain of specialty) as a profession; experience using Microsoft Outlooks preferred.
Job Specific Competencies:
· Demonstrates leadership in managing the Sterile Processing course and promoting quality instruction
· Excellent written verbal and written communication skills
· Has excellent working knowledge of Sterile Processing Technician's role
· Recommends curricular changes based on evidence from governing bodies
· Supports technology in the classroom
· Directs and oversees the work of assigned students on the Moodle learning platform
· Updates Sterile Processing Technician course syllabi accurately, completely and keeps current
· Develops and implements a plan for improvement of clinical agency relations as needed
· Communicates and facilitates clinical site opportunities to students
· Works with the Director of Healthcare Certifications to maximize classroom instruction & clinical opportunities
Essential Job Functions:
· Manages the day to day instruction of the Sterile Processing Certification Course
· Teaches curriculum and develops/updates course content as needed
· Utilizes evidenced based educational strategies during instruction
· Communicates regularly within the Trocaire e-mail and Moodle Learning Management System
· Problem solves
· Serves as resource person as needed within the Sterile Processing Technician field
· Motivates others to create a climate of collegiality and professional development
· Maintains accurate student records including attendance and grading
· Maintains relevant industry certification
