Muskegon Surgical Associates is recruiting for a full-time Sterile Processing Technician to support our new Surgery Center that will be opening in early Summer of 2024. This position is located in Muskegon, Michigan.
Muskegon Surgical Associates, PC has been providing surgical care to West Michigan since 1972. We are an independently owned multi-specialty practice consisting of 13 surgeons and approximately 100 employees, and two locations in Muskegon. In early Summer 2024 we are also opening a new Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC).
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a critical role in ensuring safety and success of surgical and endoscopy procedures by meticulously cleaning, disinfecting, preparing, processing, and distributing sterile and non-sterile medical supplies and equipment. They are also responsible for monitoring quality activities and the physical environment to ensure that all equipment and supplies meet the necessary standards for patient safety.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes, quality control and equipment maintenance.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure sterile supplies are readily available for surgical and endoscopy procedures.
- Knowledge of specific sterilization modalities and complex advanced processing systems including gravity displacement, dynamic air-removal, low temperature hydrogen peroxide gas plasma and Ethylene oxide, DSD, CER, Pass Through Medivator Advantage, Astra Tee, GUS, Scope Buddy Plus, Aqua Sink, process and efficacy testing. Knowledge of High, Low, and Intermediate disinfection levels is required.
- High level disinfection, decontaminating, cleaning, Inspection, assembling and packing of sterile supplies and instruments and equipment.
- Knowledge of physiology to understand the purpose and function of surgical instruments.
- Operating sterilization equipment. such as autoclaves, to ensure proper sterilization of instruments.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines in the handling and disposal of hazardous materials to prevent the spread of pathogens.
- Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Holds and maintains either the Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) credential.
- Associate degree in related healthcare field preferred
- Minimum 3-5 years sterile processing experience in ambulatory surgery center or hospital setting
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
