Sterile Processing Technician - Endoscopy Center
The ideal candidate for the Sterile Process Technician position will have at least one year of hospital-based sterile processing experience and certified.
Sterile Processing Functions
Performs duties and troubleshoots in all areas of sterile processing to include decontamination, assemble, sterilization of advanced instrumentation and equipment while adhering to the manufacturer and department guidelines. Identifies and inspects instruments for cleanliness and functionality. Operates and troubleshoots equipment. Maintains safety standards. Prepares case carts and delivers instrumentation to the operating room. Stocks operating room par levels for stored instrumentation and emergency carts. Provides all tasks associated with sterile processing within the surgical, hospital and clinic settings.
Impacts the efficient sterilization of instruments utilized in patient care.
Scope Reprocessing/Infection and Quality Control

Education
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Diploma from an approved Sterile Processing Program
Experience
Required: One-year hospital-based sterile processing experience. With preferred education, no experience.
Certification/Licensure
Preferred: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) by the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management (IAHCSMM) or Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician (CSPDT) by the Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. (CBSPD).

Scope Reprocessing/Infection and Quality Control
- Adheres to hospital, Joint Commission, SGNA guidelines for quality control and safety of procedures
- Participates in the education of self and others regarding job duties and process improvement efforts.
- Observes all policies and procedures to assure the quality and safety of the endoscopy environment for patients, families and staff.
- Participates in continuous monitoring and quality improvement efforts.
- Helps to ensure all dictated reports contain necessary information in order to be sent through the electronic portal or health record.
- Performs routine equipment maintenance.
- Helps maintain inventory of supplies to provide full service to endoscopy patients.
- Follows hospital laboratory protocol for collecting tissue specimens, labeling and recording of specimens during all procedures
- Completes annual competency training on scope reprocessing
