Job Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a crucial role in the healthcare setting by ensuring that all surgical instruments and medical equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained. This position requires a strong understanding of aseptic techniques and sterile processing protocols to support patient safety and effective clinical operations. The technician will work closely with surgical teams to provide them with the necessary tools for successful procedures.

Duties

• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment according to established protocols.
• Inspect and test sterilization equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Maintain accurate inventory of sterile supplies and equipment, including tracking usage and reordering as necessary.
• Utilize appropriate aseptic techniques during the handling of sterile items to prevent contamination.
• Assist in the organization and storage of sterile supplies in designated areas.
• Collaborate with healthcare staff to ensure timely availability of instruments for surgical procedures.
• Document all sterilization processes and maintain records in compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

• Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology is essential for understanding the instruments used in surgical procedures.
• Experience or training in sterile processing techniques is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with inventory management practices to effectively track supplies.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols for infection control.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also demonstrating independence in task execution.
