Summary
In the role of an Instrument Technician Lead (Sterile Processing Department), you will oversee the sterile processing department, ensuring the effective management of inventory and adherence to aseptic techniques. Reporting to the department manager, you will leverage your leadership and supervising experience to guide a team in maintaining high standards of sterilization and compliance with medical terminology. Your core knowledge in physiology and anatomy will be essential in training staff and optimizing processes. Shift Schedule:
10:30pm-7am | Mon-Fri | No Weekends
Education & Experience:
- High school graduate or equivalent is required
- Experience as an instrument technician of a minimum 5 years is recommended
- Knowledge of aseptic technique, proper sterilization procedures, decontamination and assembly procedures per IAHCSMM, AAMI, AORN, AST, OSHA, JCAHO, The Joint commission, safety standards, hospital and departmental policies and procedures, generally as related to the Sterile Processing department
- Knowledge of surgical procedures, surgical instruments, sets and trays to include instruments, classification, disassembly, and cleaning procedure
Certification/Licensure:
- Current HeartSaver Certification within 30 days of hire
- Certification in a national organization for sterile processing is required; CRCST or CBSPD (Failure to maintain certification will result in demotion to Sterile Processing Technician I)
