UC Health is hiring a Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician Specialist for The Inpatient Pharmacy Department at the University of Cincinnati's Medical Center. We're offering a $2,000 sign-on bonus!
The Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician Specialist will directly oversee workflow in the central and satellite pharmacy IV rooms. This individual will assist with training of team members, initial and ongoing media fill and finger tip testing, and ensuring compliance with sterile compounding practices established by USP guidelines. This will be a day shift position with occasional evening and overnight shift responsibilities.

Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma/GED. Preferred Degree: Associate's Degree.
License and Certification: Current pharmacy technician registration by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy. Current certified technician certificate (approved by Ohio BOP). Specialty certification in a specialized area by a nationally recognized body. Registration and certification throughout their employment with the UC Health Pharmacy Department
Years of Experience: Minimum Required: 3 years equivalent experience. Preferred: 5 Years equivalent experience.
Required Skills and Knowledge: Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision; work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff; handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule; set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to emergent requests; exercise sound professional judgment; communicate effectively (orally and in writing); and meet the pharmaceutical care needs of the patient populations served by UC Health.

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $27.33/hr.- $33.78/hr.
The actual pay rate for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant's years of experience, unique skills and abilities, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, and other requirements for the position

Responsibilities
- Engages in population appropriate communication.
- Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks.
- Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment.
- Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient.
- Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.
- Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems.
- Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately.
- Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms. Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely.
- Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.
- Procures and distributes medication orders per prescriber request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures, and protocols:
- Assists pharmacy leadership in development of materials and orientation of new associates
- Picks up orders, requisitions, and medications for return from patient care areas when on delivery rounds
- Enters medication orders into pharmacy computer system accurately (if applicable)
- Enters charges and credits for patient medications accurately
- Generates reports, pick lists, and labels as required
- Answers the telephone, identifying self and department; directs calls to appropriate personnel
- Answers requests at the window/door and makes Stat deliveries to patient care and ancillary areas when requested
- Organizes and prioritizes work assignments
- Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation accurately; files documentation in appropriate locations
- Demonstrates good oral and written communication
- Keeps pharmacy areas clean, neat, and well-organized; keeps pharmacy equipment clean
