Job Description:
We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our STEM and CTE team as a STEM and CTE Summer Camp Assistant. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting the execution of summer camp programs focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) as well as Career and Technical Education (CTE). Your efforts will contribute to fostering a passion for STEM and CTE disciplines among students and promoting their academic growth and career exploration. This is a temporary position and will end on or before August 26, 2024.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the organization and delivery of daily STEM and CTE activities, including setup and cleanup.
Guide small group interactions and offer individual support to campers as necessary.
Ensure camper adherence to camp rules and safety guidelines.
Work collaboratively with the camp team to review and refine programming for optimal engagement and educational impact.
Contribute feedback to camp coordinators regarding camper engagement and progress.
Engage in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in STEM-related fields or education is a plus.
- Enthusiasm for promoting STEM and CTE education and a genuine interest in fostering student learning.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences effectively.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail to assist in program coordination and resource management.
- Previous experience working with students in educational or mentorship settings is advantageous.
Position Hours and Location:
- Monday through Thursday and some weekends
- Taft College, 29 Cougar Court, Taft, CA 93268
Compensation and Benefits
This is a temporary position and is not eligible for participation in the District's health and welfare programs. The hourly rate is $18.17.
