About the Job
Position Summary
Responsible for review of Structural design inputs, identify scope items, preparing material take-off and estimating Fabrication work for projects with Misc. Steel scope. Upon project award, perform Detailing, Modeling & checking in 3D models as applicable for the Project. Partner with Sales & Operations team as necessary to ensure projects are completed within budget and in agreed schedule.
Primary Responsibilities
Act as primary interface with customer during the estimating/detailing phase of the project.
Review contract documents, establish scope items along with any applicable exclusions.
Provides or coordinates scope changes to sales and customer.
Performs detailed material take-off, include fabrication work involved such as welding, etc.
Collaborate with Sales team in pricing for new bids.
Obtain clarifications from customer as needed for clarifying scope items.
Attends project kick-off meetings as required.
Coordinate with customers to establish sequencing and priorities.
Develops or manages requests for information (RFI's).
Meet deadlines to ensure projects are completed within schedule.
Resolves issues or involves appropriate departments for resolution.
Reviews contract additions and deletions, prepare change orders for applicable items.
Checks project status upon receipt of changes and evaluates impact.
Work in a team environment.
Coordinate with inside / outside detailing groups where required.
Resolves issues or involves appropriate departments for resolution.
Coordinate customer provided structural 3D models for applicable items.
3D & 2D modeling, drafting, and checking of drawings.
May require some short time travel.
Other duties may apply as required.
Basic Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Industrial or Construction Engineering or Management, preferable.
B. Experience
Minimum of 3+ yrs. of experience in Estimating & Detailing of Structural Steel & miscellaneous steel detailing for commercial or industrial construction projects.
C. Other requirements
Knowledge in 2D & 3D Cad software.
Excellent Interpersonal Skills.
Excellent Technical Skills.
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Must have customer-oriented approach to business situations
Essential Functions
Detailing and Modeling of Stairs, Handrails, Ladders in 3D software such as Tekla, SDS/2
Estimating of Miscellaneous Steel scope, material take-off based on the design inputs provided
All work to be performed following the guidelines of applicable building codes, AISC, NISD standard practices
Preferred Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Industrial or Construction Engineering
B. Other requirements
Knowledge in AWS D1.1 welding practices, OSHA safety standards, required
Understanding of AGA recommended practices for Weep holes, Galvanizing process
C. Other Skills
Read Structural design inputs, working knowledge in BIM process
Computer Microsoft Office
Mathematical skills
