Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Structural Steel Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate estimates for structural steel projects, ensuring that all costs are accounted for and that bids are competitive. This role requires a strong understanding of steel fabrication processes and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates for structural steel projects based on project drawings and specifications.
- Analyze project requirements and scope to determine necessary materials and labor costs.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to gather relevant information for accurate estimations.
- Utilize estimating software and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the bidding process.
- Review and assess subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure competitiveness and reliability.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and pricing to inform estimation practices.
- Participate in bid meetings and present estimates to clients and stakeholders.
- Proven experience as a Structural Steel Estimator or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong proficiency in estimating software and tools, preferably with experience in Tekla and Bluebeam.
- In-depth knowledge of structural steel fabrication and construction processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications accurately.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is preferred.
