System One is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Steam and Power Systems Engineer to oversee and coordinate the integration of steam, power, and auxiliary systems within the Energy Island of a power plant. This is a 12 month remote contract opportunity.
This role involves supporting the design and integration of our partner’s Energy Island Systems, Structures, and Components and will report directly to the Plant Design Oversight Manager. The successful candidate will provide both technical and administrative oversight, ensuring cross-functional and interdisciplinary integration while maintaining the highest standards of technical accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide integration and oversight to geographically diverse team members developing Energy Island system deliverables.
- Support the design and development of steam, power, and auxiliary system components in the plant's 3D model.
- Collaborate closely with partners and Architect/Engineer firms to establish and manage interfaces with other systems and structures.
- Ensure effective communication and interface between plant design departments, including 3D model development and integrated plant analysis.
- Oversee and review design deliverables for technical accuracy, ensuring proper integration across all related disciplines and systems.
Key Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the design or modification of nuclear or commercial power plants, with a focus on systems and equipment for power generation.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience driving cross-functional collaboration and system integration across diverse teams.
- Team-oriented, with the ability to effectively collaborate with geographically distributed, potentially international, design team members.
- Broad-based technical expertise in plant systems and experience leading integrated design teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey critical design information to senior management, engineering teams, and customers.
- Experience working in a conceptual design and first-of-a-kind environment, requiring sound engineering judgment and a proactive approach to meet project objectives.
- Familiarity with quality standards for design activities, such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.
