Location: 1205 S 28th St, Harrisburg, PA 17111
The Boiler Mechanic/Technician will service, maintain, repair, inspect, and monitor various plant equipment at Spring Creek. Experience in the maintenance and operation of steam and power plant equipment is required. The primary purpose of this position is to perform specified duties to include Boiler oversite and repairs.
Responsibilities of the Steam Boiler Mechanic/Technician:
- Inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of steam boilers, hot water heating systems and all related equipment.
- Use of common mechanical and electrical tools including threading equipment, wrenches, power, and hand tools.
- Steam, water, compressed air, and gas leak repairs.
- Pump and valve maintenance, repair, and testing.
- Record keeping, including daily logs.
- Monitoring physical plant system operations.
- Responds to all maintenance and emergency calls.
- Examines machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment daily.
- Responsible for communicating and working effectively with others.
- Adherence to established company safety policies and good industrial and office safety practices.
- Trouble shoots failed equipment and makes needed repairs.
- Assist Facilities Director with estimates of remodel or replacement of steam plant utilities.
Preferred Qualifications of the Steam Boiler Mechanic/Technician:
- Demonstrated experience in all aspects of the maintenance and repair of steam and condensate distribution systems, boilers, furnaces, and auxiliary systems and controls.
- The ability to operate all related test equipment, specialized tools and to read control prints to perform necessary repair functions.
- Advanced experience and/or certifications with medium and high-pressure steam and compressed gas systems, co-generation system operations, maintenance, repair, inspection, and testing. Naval steam plant operations experience a plus!
- Working knowledge of power plant operations and maintenance, medium and low-pressure STEAM boilers, compressors, chillers and cooling towers and associated controls.
- Working knowledge of applicable local, state, and national building codes and other regulations applicable to area of responsibility.
- Proper use of personal protective equipment related to trade.
- Proper application of Lockout Tag out, confined space, and other safety procedures.
- Demonstrated history of satisfied customer service competencies and customer follow-up.
- Desktop computer skills including the fundamental use of internet, e-mail, and maintenance management systems.
- Ability to meet demands of a variable schedule including other shifts, weekend, holidays, and overtime assignments as needed.
