This unit is dedicated to fostering academic success for all students and providing a smooth transition for first-year Bruins.Position Summary:The Associate Director of Academics & First-Year Experience (FYE) at UCLA Residential Life is a full-time professional responsible for managing and advancing academic support services, Jumpstart's early childhood education programs, and initiatives that promote academic success and smooth transitions for students. This position includes a live-in component and requires participation in a 24/7 duty rotation, serving as a critical responder for the campus. The role demands flexibility, strong leadership, and collaboration with faculty and campus partners to create a supportive residential environment. Reporting to the Executive Director of Residential Life and First-Year Experience, the Associate Director directly supervises one Assistant Director, two Senior Site Managers overseeing the Jumpstart program, two Program Coordinators, and indirectly supervises over 120 student staff, including Project Management Interns, Community Development Interns, and Study Hall Proctors. The role involves overseeing the planning, implementation, and assessment of FYE programs, managing academic support initiatives, and fostering partnerships with academic departments. Responsibilities also include managing a budget, conducting data analysis for program improvement, and preparing reports for senior leadership. Additionally, the Associate Director is involved in crisis management, providing leadership and support during emergencies affecting the residential student population.
