Purpose: The Nursing Staff Development Coordinator provides education, training, consultative and support services to the management team, staff and patients.

Duties and Responsibilities for Nursing Staff Development Coordinator:

·        Determines learning needs of staff in using a variety of methods in order to maintain or improve their competency.

·        Conducts formal and informal competency assessments with staff and nursing leadership.

·        Utilizes data collected by PI, Nursing Leadership, Nursing Standards, staff and nursing leadership to develop educational offerings.

·        Collaborates with members of the nursing leadership team to determine unit specific educational needs.

·        Presents educational programs in an organized, effective and professional manner utilizing the principles of adult learning.

·        Keeps staff aware of educational offering via the intranet, e-mail, flyers, etc.

·        Utilizes a variety of educational designs to create an adult learning environment.

·        In conjunction with the Nursing Leadership Team, assists in the growth and development of staff.

·        Obtains information regarding educational offerings, professional advancement and professional organizations.

·        Develops working relationships with academic centers and arranges for opportunities in which staff interact with representatives from these centers.

·        Rounds on the nursing units identifying opportunities to support, guide and consult with nurses on practice issues.

·        Coordinates with Human Resource to plan a smooth and organized transition for the orientees.

·        Assesses the learning needs of the orientees and plans a comprehensive orientation.

·        Collaborates with the clinical managers to select the appropriate preceptor for each orientee.

Qualification:

• Registered Nurse (RN) license
