About the Job:
Peak Energy is looking for a Staff Structures Design Engineer to own the mechanical design of our utility scale sodium-ion energy storage systems (ESS). The Staff Structures Design Engineer will be responsible formechanical system and componentdesigns and will work with other design, analysis, manufacturingand program teams both at the high levelin design direction and deep in the engineering implementation. This person is hands-on, highly motivatedand autonomous.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, analysis, and optimization of structural components for Peak Energy's advanced energy storage systems, focusing on durability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including simulation, validation, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure structural integrity and performance align with product specifications and industry standards.
- Utilize advanced modeling and simulation tools to predict structural behavior under various operational conditions and optimize designs accordingly.
- Drive the development and implementation of best practices in structural engineering within the organization.
- Collaborate with external partners and suppliers to ensure the highest quality of materials and components for structural applications.
- Lead critical problem-solving initiatives in response to structural challenges encountered during product development and deployment.
- Ensure a smooth transition from maturing product to production-ready

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 10+ years of experience working with structural products
- Exceptional fundamentals in structures
- Extensive use of commercial CAD and PLM software
- Familiarity with CAE software such as Abaqus or ANSYS
- Experience with design and manufacturing of medium to high volume products
- Hands on prototyping, validation and testing experience
- Eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with factory-built stationary structures
- Large format battery architecture development experience
- Product design experience with high volume automated manufacturing requirements
