Job Description:
Winchester Hospital, a member of Beth Israel Lahey Health, has a new Staff Speech Therapist opening on our Rehabilitative Services Team. Be part of the mission to deliver exceptional personalized care within our Top 10 Massachusetts recognized 229-bed hospital.
In this role, you will contribute to the Hospital’s mission to care, heal and to excel in service to our community by delivering expert services by planning, preparing and carrying out individually designed programs of speech therapy treatment to improve or restore function and enhance patient outcomes. This clinical staff professional will have an impact on improving patient care and patient satisfaction by skillfully and empathetically treating patients with a variety of diagnoses. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
+ Provide direct patient care in accordance with state and federal regulations and American Speech and hearing Association (ASHA) guidelines including assessment and treatment of swallowing, voice, language, speech and cognitive disorders.
+ Assess the patient using methods such as observation, interview and review of clinical data, as well as standardized tests
+ Develop individualized plan of care based on assessment and in conjunction with physician orders to achieve desired outcomes.
+ Implement plan of care and update treatment plan and goals as appropriate through ongoing assessment.
+ Coordinate and communicate plan of patient care with physicians and other members of health care team, patient and caregiver.
Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications - Required:
+ Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
+ Minimum one year of experience as speech-language pathologist in acute care, inpatient rehab, and/or LTAC settings.
+ Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech and Hearing Association.
+ Valid Commonwealth of Massachusetts Speech and Language Pathology License.
Other Skills/Knowledge - Required:
+ Proficiency with performing and interpreting Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS)
+ Maintains up to date knowledge in best practices in speech-language pathology assessment and treatment through completing continuing education courses, reading current literature, and attending professional meetings/conferences
Preferred:
+ Proficiency with performing and interpreting Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)
