About the Job
How you will help
As a Software Engineer on the HealthVerity Engineering team, you will develop and maintain the services and tools that power HealthVerity's data ecosystem and software products. Your work will support the entire data lifecycle—from raw data ingestion into our petabyte-sized warehouse to the delivery of cleaned, de-identified, and synchronized data—while enhancing the software products that enable our clients to leverage real-world healthcare data. You'll be instrumental in building and optimizing platforms that facilitate data exchange, as well as creating user experiences that make it seamless for customers to access actionable insights within HealthVerity's ecosystem.
What you will do
- Lead the technical execution of initiatives, ensuring that engineering best practices are followed and that solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with product goals
- Develop innovative services to support ingestion, storage, discovery, and extraction of data within HealthVerity's ecosystem
- Build and enhance software products that empower clients to engage with and derive insights from real-world healthcare data
- Design and architect encapsulated microservices to support seamless data exchange and power user experiences
- Create intuitive user interfaces for internal and external users, facilitating data exchange and access to critical healthcare insights
- Work collaboratively within a high-performing engineering team, guiding and mentoring team members through pair programming and code reviews
- Partner with product teams to understand user needs and build software that addresses them effectively
- Continuously improve the software development process through Agile ceremonies and by implementing best practices

Our team leverages the following technologies in our day-to-day development process: Github, Python, Postgres, React, AWS Cloud-native technologies (CDK, Lambda, S3, ECS, SQS, Eventbridge, DynamoDB and more), Spark, Databricks

Required skills and experience
- 8+ years of software development experience
- 3+ years of cloud experience leveraging infrastructure-as-code tools
- 3+ years experience with javascript or modern UI frameworks (React js preferred)
- Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment technologies
- Experience in application architecture, microservice architecture, event driven architectures, messaging systems, and domain driven design
- 3+ years of experience building data pipelines
Desired skills and experience
- Bachelor's in computer science, engineering or related field
- Prior experience developing software in a fast paced, start up environment
- Experience working in regulated industry like healthcare or finance with compliance requirements
- Experience working with Lean / Agile development methodologies
- 3+ years of Spark, or similar technologies, experience
Base salary for the role is commensurate with experience and can range between $70,000 - 220,000 + annual bonus opportunity.
We prioritize hiring team members from the Philadelphia area whenever possible, as our main office is located in Center City, Philadelphia, where we operate on a hybrid model with in-office work required two days a week. However, for certain roles, we're also open to hiring from our hub locations, where we have groups of remote workers. Please note that, due to tax and labor regulations, we can only hire from specific states, but remote work is supported in the following key hubs and approved states:
