Staff Software Engineer, Experience at dbt Labs

We are currently seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Experience group. In this role, you will partner with our product and design teams to create delightful and powerful tools for analytics engineers. We build an IDE, CLI, and visual editor deeply integrated with the dbt ecosystem, aiming to put more context at our users fingertips than they can get in any other development environment. As a Staff Engineer, you will provide technical leadership to the teams working on our experience products. Your work will be utilized by data teams worldwide to support their daily business decisions.

In this Role, you can Expect to:

• Develop multiple user-facing features across a broad surface area including IDE, Low-code No-code platform, CLI and AI assist.

• Partner closely with product, design, and cross-functional engineering to bring rich capabilities to the user.

• Design and build efficient and reusable services and architecture that drive complex web applications.

• Focus on the stability and reliability of the systems and services owned by the team, and improve the observability.

• Participate in on-call and help improve the processes and systems.

• Mentor and enable the team by doing first and foremost. Empower the team with excellent tooling and systems, and provide transparent timely feedback to grow together.

Qualifications:

• Have 8+ years of experience as a software engineer

• Minimum requirement of bachelors degree in a related field (computer science, computer engineering, etc.)

• Have meaningful experience with building production systems to deliver new product features and capabilities to handle scale. This includes deep experience working in backend systems and exposure to frontend technologies and middleware.

• Cares deeply about the user experience and solves problems for the users.

• Have strong communication skills and enjoy working cross-functionally with product, design and engineering.

• Enjoy development velocity and build tools and systems to improve efficiency.

• Loves to own all aspects of the problem and helps deliver with velocity and creativity.

Youll Have an Edge if you:

• Have worked on similar applications, such as a visual design tool, an analytics application, a low-code/no-code platform, or an IDE.

• Have experience with scalable architectures and creating solutions that focus on the end-user.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $220,000 - $270,000 USD
