responsible for sustaining image formation technology for SPECT. This
position is located at Hoffman Estates, IL and a substantive relocation
package will be provided to out of state candidates.
Your role:
responsible for sustaining image formation technology for SPECT.
In this role, you will contribute or lead efforts to support the
technology needs for multimodal quantitative SPECT to address current
and future clinical needs, by
o using your skills in experimental nuclear physics and imaging
instrumentation by modeling and simulation of key components of the
detector technology to develop and test solutions and considering
constraints from clinical and business aspects.
It is expected that you have experience in nuclear image formation
experimentation and quantitatively analyze the data, and then skillfully
use that information to improve the design in coordination with experts
in the field.
You will be working both with future technology as well as with legacy
and therefore you are willing to deep dive in existing technology to
maintain, adapt and improve, and also participate in the development of
future solutions.
You will be using both an experimental as well as modeling and
simulation-based approaches to troubleshoot or assess technologies.
As you are working in a multi-disciplinary team with access to luminary
researchers worldwide, and you should have a strong customer focus and
passion to understand and address clinical needs in this field.
You should be comfortable to take on large and complex problems as an
individual contributor or as part of a larger team.
Your excellent communication skills and expertise will also allow you to
provide technical support to service and marketing teams in addressing
customer complaints and inquiries, and you will collaborate with
luminary clinical sites worldwide to test and validate the new
technologies in a clinical setting.
Your expertise:
Ph.D. in experimental nuclear physics and imaging instrumentation. M.S.
with at least 5 years also considered.
Desired areas of expertise
o Gamma ray detection instrumentation
o Simulation Packages: GEANT4 or similar
o Medical Imaging, in particular SPECT
o Image Quality
o Collimation up to 511keV
Demonstrated ability for hands-on bench work in a detector lab
Demonstrated strong data analysis skills
Demonstrated strong ability to use state-of-the-art computing
environment with standard software tools, programming languages,
scripting, version control, and efficient operations within Windows and
Linux OS
Ability to communicate with both scientists and non-scientists is
essential
Demonstrated strong statistical data analysis skills and proficiency
using Matlab, Python, C/C++/C# on Windows, Linux/Unix platforms
Willing to travel up to 20%
