About the Job
Are you looking to make a significant impact in a growing (pre-IPO) life science company? We are actively seeking a talented Senior Accountant to join our vibrant Accounting team in Boston, MA. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, you will play a pivotal role in our financial operations, including the general ledger, month-end close process, reconciliations, A/P, payroll, and FP&A tasks. This is a hybrid role, with three days per week in our Boston office, making you a crucial addition to our finance team.
What You'll Do:
- Month-End Close: Lead the charge in our month-end close process by creating and posting journal entries, performing account reconciliations, analyzing transactions, and ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Financial Operations: Manage banking, procurement workflows (including purchase orders and invoicing within accounts payable and accruals), fixed assets accounting, payroll cycles, and assist with FP&A-related tasks.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to develop and maintain effective processes, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial statements.
- Reporting: Review purchase orders to assess the percentage of completion or timing of service delivery and prepare ad-hoc reports as needed.
- Process Improvement: Implement process improvements and best practices to support our rapid growth.
- Policy Development: Assist in documenting new policies and procedures to enhance departmental and company workflows.
- Audit Support: Support annual audits by promptly responding to all requests and inquiries.
- Problem Solving: Coordinate and resolve accounting issues within your area of responsibility.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Special Projects: Contribute to special projects as assigned, supporting management in the decision-making process.
What You'll Bring:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience: 3+ years of accounting experience, with public accounting preferred.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, SOX, and SEC Reporting.
