- Position Summary
- Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager of the Children’s Place, the staff Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process to prescribe, provide and coordinate care for the neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent and adult patients based on current standards of pediatric and medical/surgical nursing. The staff RN is also responsible for the supervision of assigned personnel and promoting collaboration among the multi-disciplinary health care team. The staff RN functions within the permissible scope of nursing practice as defined by the Georgia Board of Nursing.

- Associate Degree in Nursing - Required
- Experience
- 1 Year Nursing - Preferred
- License & Certification
- Registered Nurse License with State of Practice - Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Required within first 6 month of hire
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - Required within first 6 months of hire

- Administers medication utilizing the 5 rights and available safety equipment and processes. Utilizes clinical judgment with patient assessment and prescribed therapies to ensure promotion of goal obtainment. As leader holds healthcare providers accountable for the standard of care. Ensures interventions are consistent with current nursing practice and standards.
- Care plan developed and implemented with other health care team members. Is a resource for others in the delivery of timely professional communication with physicians regarding Situation, Background, Assessment, and Recommendation format. Is a resource for assuring consistent rounding and communicating including present on admission indicators.
- Uses critical thinking skills to assess and document to improve patient health outcomes.
- Includes patient and other health care team members in developing and implementing plan of care using the medical/ nursing diagnosis. Customizes and prioritizes plan of care and helps to develop problem list as needed. Evaluates long and short term goals including communication of plan of care and evaluation to patient, family, provider as appropriate.
- Complies with regulatory guidelines for work area and professional practice standards. Utilizes available safety equipment and processes for patient care. Promotes a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
- Engages resources to facilitate timely discharge and throughput starting on admission. Anticipates forecasted patient care discharge needs to ensure throughput targets met. Provides input that decreases inefficiencies for unit, staff in collaboration with the manager.
- Teach back performed with patients to facilitate patient outcome improvements by increasing knowledge and skills needed to improve healthy behaviors. Elicit information using effective counseling techniques. Identify factors that might affect communication or learning.
