The successful candidate will be a primary contributor to the next wave of sensing and capital equipment solution development, and to the acceleration of our product development funnel activities.
How You Will Make a Difference
Technical
- Take a lead mechanical role in moving new product design projects from concept to production.
- Personally execute mechanical design and development activities for new sensors, transducers, and polymer test equipment (concept development and feasibility analysis, detailed design, verification testing, and hand-off to production).
- Develop and execute test plans to evaluate and characterize both design components and integrated sensor assemblies
- Support Manufacturing scale up and ongoing operations, including designing tooling (fixtures/jigs) and manufacturing work instructions, and troubleshooting and solving sustaining issues as needed.
- Research, evaluate, and report on new sensing and automation technologies
- Complete Engineering Change Orders, including 3D CAD models and drawings (SolidWorks, SolidEdge). Create and revise product BOMs, routings, and operations as required
- Work with Marketing and Application Engineers to develop functional and technical specifications for new products.
- Identify required product configuration/design changes as related to new sales orders
- Provide technical support for outsourcing activities and manufacturing issue resolution
- Manage regulatory documentation in compliance with Dynisco's quality system and industry standards. Support quality improvement initiatives as required.
Project Management
- Familiarity working within a stage gate development process. Adhere to disciplined design process using design controls, FMEA, rapid prototyping and design reviews.
- Understand project requirements, anticipate development challenges, and deliver robust solutions on schedule and budget.
- Assist management in the development of accurate project plans; coordinate project activities with other stakeholders to ensure on time delivery to project commitments.
- Work effectively with multi-disciplinary design teams to ensure integration of all stakeholder inputs in the development of comprehensive new product design specifications.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with 20+ years of design experience. MSME preferred.
Competencies You Need to be Successful
- Experience designing and operationalizing automated capital equipment a must.
- Experience designing automated fluidic systems a plus.
- Knowledge of GD&T, DOE, DFM, DFA, FEA, DFEA, PFMEA.
- Experience in CAD and Solidworks a must. SolidEdge a plus.
- Experience managing projects a plus
- Experience managing direct reports a plus
- Knowledge of design and manufacture of precision metal components using various fabrication techniques (welding, brazing, heat treating, plating, turning, milling, grinding, etc,) a plus
- Excellent problem-solving skills - experience with root cause and corrective action a plus
- Strong communication skills required (listening and speaking) - ability to distill complex technical topics into clear and concise messages and calls to action.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, reports, and documents
- Ability to respond professionally to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
- Ability to effectively present information to customers, management, and co-workers
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Travel Requirements
- Ability to travel up to 5 percent of the time
