A Top CPA firm in the area is looking to add a Tax Professional to their team. This stable and growing firm offers clients valuable knowledge and expertise in tax. Due to the recent growth of the firm, there is an opportunity for a Tax Associate to join a team of highly motivated staff.
As a Tax Professional...
You will apply tax rules and accounting principles with supervision and bring to the Senior Tax Professional’s and Manager’s attention all issues, questions, and concerns noted while performing your work. Essential duties and responsibilities are:
- Proficient in QuickBooks online and desktop versions and other accounting software.
- Prepare federal and state payroll tax returns.
- Review tax information provided by client. This may include meeting with and contacting clients with questions.
- Preparation and detail review of Federal, state, and local income tax returns.
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of complex tax returns and tax research.
- Recognize, anticipate and resolve tax issues. Make recommendations and actively communicate with supervisors and the client.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops or classes; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks and taking part in professional societies.
- Participate in internal committees and meetings with an aim towards firm improvement.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or extensive public accounting experience with the use of QuickBooks or other accounting general ledger software packages.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting and tax experience or recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree seeking an entry level Tax Professional position.
- CPA or Enrolled Agent or plans to obtain within two years.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of CCH Axcess is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Organizing and analyzing clients’ financial information
- Establishing and updating client records
- Preparing necessary forms for filing taxes
- Advising clients about tax liabilities and other tax-related matters
- Filing tax returns on paper or electronically on behalf of clients
- Staying current on IRS and state and local tax rules and regulations and ensuring full compliance
- Assisting with audits by gathering and preparing financial information
