Staff Electrical Engineer with Arcadis U.S., Inc. (Rochester, NY)
Provide technical and design consulting services with a focus on medium and low voltage electrical power distribution.
Models and analyzes distribution circuits to identify strategies for addressing deficiencies, and improving interconnectivity. Designs power distribution system infrastructure for improving system resiliency through hardening, automation & topology related upgrades. Performs load balancing and voltage profile improvement. Performs sizing and coordination for fuses and trip savers. Performs sizing of capacitor banks and voltage regulators. Conducts power quality studies and new load studies. Provides storm restoration support. Designs electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Designs relay panel arrangement drawings and cable lists. Prepares bill of materials. Performs AC and DC load studies. Performs battery sizing. Designs the layout of solar PV panels, inverters, power collection and grid interconnection network. Performs load estimation and voltage drop calculations. Performs conductor, conduit, and transformer sizing.
This position allows for remote work and reports to the company’s office in Rochester, NY.
Requirements: Requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Position requires related experience (5 years with Bachelor’s or 3 years with Master’s), which must include experience in each of the following skills: Designing medium voltage power distribution systems for electric utilities; Designing automation and communication systems for medium voltage substations; Generating work orders using SAP ERP; Generating technical drawings using Microstation and/or AutoCAD; NESC and NEC requirements; SEL-3530 real-time automation controller; Designing solar PV systems using Helioscope; and Performing photometric analysis using Visual Lighting.
Requires a Professional Engineering (PE) license.
