Purpose: The Nursing Staff Development Coordinator/Wound Care Nurse provides education, training, consultative and support services to the management team, staff and patients, as well as overseeing and coordinating all aspects of wound care for residents.
Duties and Responsibilities for Nursing Staff Development Coordinator/Wound Care Nurse:
- Determines learning needs of staff in using a variety of methods in order to maintain or improve their competency.
- Conducts formal and informal competency assessments with staff and nursing leadership.
- Utilizes data collected by PI, Nursing Leadership, Nursing Standards, staff and nursing leadership to develop educational offerings.
- Presents educational programs in an organized, effective and professional manner utilizing the principles of adult learning.
- Utilizes a variety of educational designs to create an adult learning environment.
- In conjunction with the Nursing Leadership Team, assists in the growth and development of staff.
- Develops working relationships with academic centers and arranges for opportunities in which staff interact with representatives from these centers.
- Rounds on the nursing units identifying opportunities to support, guide and consult with nurses on practice issues.
- Coordinates with Human Resource to plan a smooth and organized transition for the orientees.
- Assesses the learning needs of the orientees and plans a comprehensive orientation.
- Collaborates with the clinical managers to select the appropriate preceptor for each orientee.
- Responsible for overseeing the Wound Care Measures
- Responsible for overseeing the infection control program
- Communicate changes in residents' conditions to IDT and other partners as appropriate
- Participate in the on-call rotation with other nursing supervisors
- Flexible working hours
- Attend Quality Measures meeting and report on applicable information
- Attend and prepare for weekly Case Management meetings
- Includes but not limited to items listed on Registered Nurse Job Description
- Develop action plans for areas of needed improvement
- Passion for wound care and healing residents
Qualification:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
