Staff Autonomy Software Engineer - Archer

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.

What you'll do:
- Join a small team of engineers working on Archer's autonomous future
- Breakdown high level concepts and requirements into achievable tasks
- Develop simulations and technology demonstrators to verify and demonstrate concepts
- Architect, implement and validate software that will be deployed to simulations, drone testbeds and full scale aircrafts
- Work closely with suppliers, partners, regulators and standardization bodies to develop the required components and technologies
- Contribute to evaluating emerging technologies, concepts, and industry trends
General:
- Passion for learning and problem solving
- A general knowledge of or interest in aviation
- Experience with advancing technologies from concept to production
- Degree in engineering or related field
What you need:
- 7+ years of professional experience in the Aerospace/Automotive industry
- Hands on experience designing, implementing, integrating and validating software for autonomous systems
- Experience with widely used languages like C++, Python, Matlab
- Generalist mindset, with the ability to work cross platform, from bringing up simulations on cloud compute platforms to optimizing software for embedded systems
- Broad knowledge of sensors typically used in autonomous systems (INS, radars, cameras, Lidars, radio positioning systems, etc.).
- Good understanding of computer architecture, embedded software, communication standards and protocols
- A basic understanding of fundamental physics
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
Bonus qualifications:
Experience certifying software for aerospace or autonomous vehicles (DO-178C or ISO-26262)
- Experience working on software for Flight Controls, State Estimation or Flight Management Systems
- Excel at working on multiple projects at the same time or wearing multiple hats

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company's business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $151,680 - $189,600. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
