Staff Assistant This position requires an active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance to be considered. The Staff Assistant will support the AUKUS Senior Advisor and Principal Deputy Advisor in ensuring the effective implementation of strategic initiatives related to the AUKUS partnership. This role involves managing communications, coordinating with various stakeholders, and handling sensitive information. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment with senior-level contacts across multiple government agencies. Compensation & Benefits: Estimated Starting Salary Range for Staff Assistant: $112,425 per year. Pay commensurate with experience. Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice. Staff Assistant Responsibilities Include: * Ensure proposals and orders are directed to appropriate offices for action under the direction of the AUKUS Senior Advisor and Principal Deputy Advisor.
* Design and implement knowledge management systems to track assignments and maintain documentation.
* Accompany AUKUS leadership to meetings and conferences, prepare materials, and handle travel vouchers.
* Manage official communications, schedules, briefing materials, and social arrangements for AUKUS leadership.
* Arrange travel, including passports, visas, and accommodations, and act as a liaison for administrative matters.
* Transmit instructions, take meeting notes, and handle special assignments with tact and diplomacy.
* Prepare and manage correspondence, reports, and briefing papers, working with senior-level contacts across multiple agencies.
* Serve as the timekeeper, HR liaison, and IT support, managing conference room schedules and onboarding new staff.
* Assist in scheduling and managing TS and TS/SCI level meetings, ensuring proper handling of classified materials.
* Brief and mentor junior and temporary staff assigned to S/AUKUS. Performs other job-related duties as assignedStaff Assistant Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: Minimum Requirements * Bachelor's degree, or a high school diploma or GED with five (5) years experience in international politics/foreign policy, military/defense or security cooperation. * English language (written and spoken) communication skills. * This position requires an active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance to be considered.
* Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
* International travel may be required, active passport requiredPreferred * Prior experience working with the Department of State or another federal department or agency preferred.
* Prior experience in foreign affairs, administration, travel planning, complex logistics, political-military affairs, foreign affairs, and defense security cooperation, or academic research support preferred.
* Experience in drafting policy-related or administrative products based on diverse sources, including government documents, academic research, and/or academic and think tank products preferred.
* Experience working with Microsoft Office applications for product creation (Word, Excel, Publisher, and/or PowerPoint) and for knowledge management (Teams and/or SharePoint) preferred.
* Ability to work independently to assess priorities and manage daily coordination of details without repeated requests for guidance from supervisors.
* Experience with travel management, preferably experience with E2 solutions, preferred.
* Ability to solve problems and encourage consistent, solid performance.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate activities in multiple locations, act decisively in daily work, and work well in a multi-cultural team environment.
* Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.
